Accomodation

There are different possibilities for a stay with us: the Chambres d’hôtes, the Gîte or the camping site.

Besides your personal room we also have a large sitting room you can use. This room used to be a schoolroom when this house served as a village school. We also serve breakfast and, if so desired, lunch and dinner in this room. If the weather permits, you can also eat outside, e.g. underneath the chestnut tree in front of the house. The sitting room also contains a library with books in several languages. There are also a large number of games and jigsaw puzzles.

The sitting room also contains a fireplace with a sitting area. Here you can sink back and go over the past day or make plans for the day to come. We have folder with extensive information about all the activities and places of interest in the area. Of course we can also advise you.

A swimming pool (6 by 4 meters) is located in the meadow that borders the house and here you can laze away the day of alternatively cool off.

Attractions & Facilities

Walks

Beautiful walks can be found in the area. Directly from the house you can walk several routes, varying from several miles to complete daytrips. Another possiblity is that we drop you at the beginning of the route so you can walk towards our house at your own pace or that we provide a picknick at a prearranged/designated spot. Our house is situated on the GR3a, an alternative route to the GR3. This is part of the two to threethousand kilometre journey (depending on the route) from the Netherlands to Santiago de Compostella in Northern Spain.




Cycling

The district of La Montagne Bourbonnaise is a beautiful area to ride a bicycle. You can ride still quiet mountain roads quite well, although you need to take into account have that the route contains some serious rises and descents. The areas lends itself to beautiful mountainbike rides. For the devotee the area also offers the possibility to make an organised exploration by means of a quad (4-wheel motorbike).


Skiing

During the winter period the skiing district of La Loge des Gardes is a relaxed region to go skiing. There are several descents, although these are not the spectacular slopes of the major skiing districts. Here you can find a pleasant/jovial French atmosphere where you can make use of materials and ski-runs against very alluring prizes. The districts also offers many cross-country skiing possibilities.





Swimming

Besides our own pool, the area offers sufficient swimming possibilities. La Mayet de Montagne and St. Clement both offer small lakes you can visit for a swim. The “Lac de Villerest” resevoir is situated at about 20 kilometres and here, besides swimming you can also rent e.g. a pedal boat or a canoe.


Horseback riding

The surroundings is perfect for horseback riding. We can recommend a riding school/stables nearby, where you can take (organised) rides.


Villages

The rural district has nice villages that are worth a visit, nice to combine with a cardrive. The villages of Vichy and Roanne are at a reasonable distance. If you want to drive further you could go to the beautiful area of Clermond Ferrand. Look at our website for more information.

Directions

Train
En Thalys, jusqu’à Paris. A Paris le RER jusqu’à la Gare de Lyon. A Lyon prendre le train jusqu’à Vichy, où une navette est disponible jusqu’à Aire Les Biefs.

Avion
De Amsterdam vous avez un vol direct sur Clermont-Ferrand. Si vous le souhaitez, nous organisons la navette entre Clermont-Ferrand et Les Biefs (durée 1H1/2 et prix sur demande).

Voiture par Maastricht et/ou par l’autoroute du Soleil
Venant de la Hollande et par l’autoroute du Soleil : Maastricht, Liège, Luxembourg, Metz Nancy, Dijon jusqu’à la sortie Chalon Sud, puis vers Monceau les Mines, Marcigny. De Marcigny direction Roanne jusque Pouilly, puis à droite prendre la D4. A Croix du Sud à droite direction Chatel Montagne. La D9 passe à la D25. Après 6 kilomètres et une maison sur votre gauche, prendre la rue à droite en oblique, fléchée Les Biefs. Quand vous arrivez à Les Biefs, vous prenez la ruelle qui va sur la gauche de l’église. Après 40m vous vous trouvez devant Aire Les Biefs, qui est la deuxième demeure dans la ruelle.

Voiture par Paris
De Paris vous prenez l’autoroute A6 vers Lyon jusqu’à la sortie Montargis, Nevers (A77). Après 100 kilomètres, vous passez sur la N7 qui passe par Nevers, Moulins et vous gardez la direction Vichy. Après le village Varennes sur Allier vous arrivez à une bifurcation ou vous gardez la direction Roanne. Vous êtes toujours sur la N7 et traversez Lapalisse et St.Prix. Après 7 kilomètres vous prenez à droite vers Arfeuilles. Arrivés à l’église d’Arfeuilles vous tournez à droite et après 8 kilomètres vous arrivez à Les Biefs où vous contournez l’église vers la droite. Après 40m vous vous trouvez devant Aire Les Biefs, qui est la deuxième demeure dans la ruelle.

Auto de Belgique
Vous prenez soit par Luxembourg, soit par Paris et vous suivez l’itinéraire décrit ci-dessus.
