Description:

Description for Gite

Mas de la Gache is a charming farmhouse that dates back to the early 17th century. Over the past 12 years, we (Esmé, Eddie, Julia, and Lucie) have been working tirelessly to restore and rejuvenate this historic property. In addition to small-scale farming, we have also built a beautiful holiday apartment, which will be available for rent starting this summer.

Our "Mas" is peacefully situated just outside the village, a pleasant 15-minute walk away. The idyllic location is separated from the village by the Cèze River, ensuring a serene and tranquil atmosphere free from traffic noise, streetlights, bustling resorts, or intrusive neighbors. Instead, you will be greeted by peace and quiet, a sky filled with stars at night, the delightful melodies of birds and treehoppers, the cheerful sounds of chicks and roosters, fresh eggs, and flavorful tomatoes. Moreover, the climate is favorable throughout most of the year, making it the perfect place to relax and unwind. You can indulge in long siestas in the shade of riverside trees, enjoy leisurely late breakfasts, and savor delicious meals made from fresh ingredients.

For an affordable price, you can experience the epitome of luxury and tranquility in the beautiful south of France. Our top priority is to provide a spacious and peaceful environment for our guests to enjoy during their stay. We personally relish waking up in the morning, stepping outside with a cup of coffee, and immersing ourselves in the symphony of birdsong and the soothing murmur of the river. Life in the south is meant to be lived outdoors, and we have still managed to create an 80 m2 apartment on the first floor of one of our barns. This charming space features a roof terrace with a view of the courtyard, two double (or triple) bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, and a large open living area with a fully equipped kitchen. The apartment has been lovingly restored in a traditional style and provides a refreshing retreat during the warm summer days.

Inside the apartment, you will find all the comforts you need for a pleasant stay, including a spacious kitchen, a television, a cozy wood stove, and heated bathrooms. Outside, there is ample space to play, take leisurely walks, or simply relax. Goudargues, a quaint village with a population of around 1,000 inhabitants, is steeped in history that spans several centuries, leaving traces of the past visible throughout the village and its surroundings. Located in the Cèze valley, Goudargues is renowned as the "Venice of the Gard" due to its charming canals that wind through the village center. This area is a hub for eco-tourism, as Goudargues offers all necessary amenities, including bakeries, a butcher, hair salons, beauty parlors, a village supermarket, various bars and restaurants, a post office, a tourist information center, and a selection of specialty shops. These lively activities lend Goudargues a vibrant atmosphere, distinguishing it from being just another picturesque yet lifeless village.

Despite the daily influx of visitors, Goudargues maintains a laid-back ambiance where you can take your time and enjoy a refreshing cold beer or a traditional pastis on one of the terraces alongside the centuries-old "platanes" trees.
