Description:

Description for B&B:

Les Eaux Tranquilles is located at the northern end of the stunning Gorge la Pierre-Lys, which has recently been designated as an area of exceptional beauty. Situated 320 meters above sea level on the outskirts of the charming village of Belvianes et Cavirac, our location is perfect for both summer and winter vacations. The village is positioned 200 meters below the winter snow line. We are conveniently located between the cities of Carcassonne and Perpignan, both of which have airports serving the UK, Belgium, and Ireland, and are a 40 and 50 minute drive away, respectively.

We have worked hard to create a welcoming and friendly environment where guests can escape the stresses of everyday life. Our private park provides a peaceful sanctuary where guests can relax by the river or on our terrace, enjoying a bottle of wine accompanied by the soothing sound of the river Aude in the background.

During the summer, we frequently host barbeques on the terrace, allowing our friends and guests to mingle and soak in the wonderful ambiance of the Pyrenees mountains.

The nearest town, Quillan, is located 4km north of us on the D117 road. There, you will find a variety of restaurants, bars, shops, banks, a railway station with connections to the main line station in Carcassonne and the rest of Europe, a coach station with links to Carcassonne and Perpignan, a tourist office open year-round, and the main post office. In the summer, Quillan hosts numerous outdoor concerts in its two squares, as well as an international folk festival that visits for two weeks in July. Belvianes also enjoys its own three-day festival with live music and entertainment. The region is abundant in vineyards and caves where visitors can sample and purchase local wines. A short drive away is the town of Limoux, renowned for its production of Blanquette, the first sparkling wine in France predating champagne.

The ancient Cité of Carcassonne, with its magnificent spires that inspired Walt Disney to create the castle in the film Sleeping Beauty, is just a 50-minute drive away. In July, the Cité hosts a magnificent fireworks display that attracts visitors from around the world.

Our grounds encompass a spacious 0.75 hectare/2-acre private park, bordered by the river Aude. The river, known for its trout and salmon, was even visited by Robert Redford during his stay nearby a few years ago. Inspired by the Aude's relentless journey to the sea, he felt compelled to adapt the book "And a River Runs Through It" into a world-famous film. Every other year, we are fortunate to have the Tour de France pass by the top of our road.

Just a short three-minute walk from us is our local Auberge, where reasonably priced meals are served, and outdoor tables are available during the summer. It's an ideal spot to sit, eat, drink, and watch the Tour de France.

There are numerous picturesque lakes nearby where you can swim or enjoy a picnic. As we are in the South of France, the superb Mediterranean beaches are within an easy hour and a half drive. These long sandy beaches are free from the high-rise hotels commonly found in Spanish resorts. Take a scenic drive along the coast to Spain and discover small French fishing villages nestled in charming bays. You can even bring back some fresh fish to cook on our barbeque in the evening, accompanied by an excellent bottle of Languedoc Roussillon wine.

We truly believe that your stay with us, whether it's for one night or two weeks, should be as enjoyable as possible. We pride ourselves on providing the highest level of customer service and ensuring that nothing is too much trouble for us. But don't just take our word for it – read our guests' comments to see what they have to say.

We warmly welcome guests from all nationalities and offer secure parking in our grounds, as well as a secure garage for touring motorcycles and cyclists who are always welcome.

Appréciations pour Les Eaux Tranquilles, Belvianes et Cavirac:

séjour d'une semaine aux Eaux Tranquilles
Review by: Michelle et Philippe Delaporte , Juil 31 2017 4:50PM
Accueil très aimable de Monsieur Kenway. Chambres très calmes et agréables avec literie de bonne qualité. Service efficace. Bons petits-déjeuners et dîners. Beau parc paysagé en bordure de l' Aude.

Directions

Directions from the north:
If you are driving all the way, take Autoroute A61 towards Carcassonne and exit at Junction 23. Follow the signs to Limoux, which will be on road number D118.

If you are coming from the airport, turn left out of the airport, but if you are not allowed (watch out for the French chap in front!), turn right and go up to the roundabout. Turn around and just past the airport (now on your left), there will be a right turn with a sign to Limoux. Follow the signs to Limoux, and you will pass Autoroute junction 23 on the way.

Continue straight through Limoux in the direction of Quillan on the D118. When you reach the first set of traffic lights in Quillan, you will be 4km away from our B&B. Drive straight at the first lights, and the road number will change to D117 (although you may not notice). Drive straight at the second set of lights as well. After about 2km, you will see a sign to the right with "Les Eaux Tranquilles" written on it. Keep going, and you will pass the Auberge du Chalet on the right. Our B&B is the next left turn, clearly signposted on the corner with Les Eaux Tranquilles.

Directions from the south:
Unfortunately, we cannot put up any signposts due to the outstanding natural beauty of the area. Therefore, you must drive down the D117 to Axat. At the roundabout in Axat, which has life-size sculptures of local bears, continue straight ahead to enter the gorge. Please drive no faster than 50kph, as there are some sharp bends. As you exit the gorge, you will see a large car park on the right, followed by a staggered crossroads marked Cavirac to the right and Belvianes to the left. Keep going for about 50 meters and then turn right. There will be signs with Les Eaux Tranquilles on the corner.

If you get lost or encounter any problems, please call us.
