Description of Au Bellefleur Bed & Breakfast:We are in the Charente in South West France, just 1 hour away from the sandy beaches at the Atlantic Ocean. Easy reach from airports La Rochelle, Bordeaux, Limoges, Poitiers and Angouleme. Au Bellefleur has a private lounge for guests, ‘Le Bistro’, with a multi-lingual library, not just of books, but also games for young and old.
Au Bellefleur has a spacious garden with cherry trees, a fig tree, prunes, wallnuts and of course apples from our own ‘Bellefleur’ apple tree. You are free to sit in the shade under our natural ‘umbrellas’ or soak up the sun all day long, come and go as you please during your stay with us.

Attractions:0-5 km Jarnac On the river Charente is the home of the house of the world famous Courvoisier Cognac distiller which is well worth a visit. You can also hire canoes if your feeling enerjectic or let the small pleasure boat take you on a short guided tour of the Charente. On the Ile de Madame you will find a lovely small park and an open air swimming-pool. 5-15 km away is Cognac also on the Charente and home to more Cognac distillers such as Hennessey, the tour of Otard is well worth doing. Cognac has a cosy center with shops and terraces. Here you can also find a large recreation park with lots to do for all ages but particularly for the younger children, there is an open air swimming-pool just for little children with life guards. You can also play crazy golf, hire canoes and water bikes for a short trip on the Charente, and if you get peckish there is also a basic snackbar. For those more serious about golf there is an 18 hole championship golf course. The Etappes de Cognac, offer 4 different routes around the Cognac area with 4 different themes. 15-30 km Angoulême sometimes referred to as the city of festivals, is a walled city built high on a hilly out crop and is famous for its art, culture and shopping, as well as its annual classic car rally round the ramparts in September and international comic festival in January along with many other cultural festivals throughout the year. 30-45 km Saintes, an ancient city founded around the first century AD, famous for its Roman amphitheatre and other cultural activities and another good centre for shopping. 80-100 km Atlantic Ocean with large sandy beaches, many of which are patrolled by life guards during the high season. 120 km La Rochelle, based around the historic harbour protected by three towers at the harbour entrance, it is a town full of life, with endless boutiques and terraces and restaurants, you can't get the fish fresher! Or visit Ile de Ré, a 30 km long island with beautiful sandy beaches and row upon row of oyster beds. Fort Boyard, where the game show was held, is open to the public and is a short boat ride from La Rochelle. 130 km Bordeaux, a city with grandeur on the banks of the Gironde and gateway to the wines of the Gironde region.
Directions to Au BellefleurAu Bellefleur is surrounded by airports. There are regular daily flights almost all year round to and from La Rochelle and Bordeaux airports, and it takes around 1,5 hours to reach us. Angoulême airport has opened its doors for International flights from London Stansted 3 times a week during the summer season. With a rental car it will take you 30 minutes to reach to us or there is a bus that takes you from the airport to the centre of Jarnac where, when possible, we can arrange to collect you. Poitiers and Limoges airports are open from April until October with daily flights and are about 2 hours journey time from Sigogne.

We are 25 minutes from a junction on the péage, the French toll road network. The nearest exit is number 35 for Saintes and is on the A10 which is the motorway from Paris to Bordeaux and on to the Spanish border. Having come off the motorway you follow the Saintes ring road following the signs to Cognac. Join the N141 heading for Cognac, follow the N141 through Cognac and on to Jarnac. Come off the N141 at the new exit for Jarnac and drive through the centre of Jarnac passing over the railway line and the bridge over the Charente, pass Courvoisier up the hill. At the light at the top of the hill turn left then right and via a dogleg drive out of Jarnac on the D736 following the sign for Sigogne, passing through the village of Les Métairies, you will then arrive in Sigogne. Take the first turning on the right and you will find us at number 1 within 100 meters. We will send a set of driving instructions with your booking confirmation.
