Description:

Description for B&B:

Cante Pedric is one of the finest renovated houses in the vicinity. The name of the house refers to the song of the partridge. The one-time farm ( 40 metres by 10) was built in three phases (1790-1868) in which the remains of a nearby Romanic church were lavishly used and applied. The house is situated on a hill alongside one of the roads to Santiago de Compostella and offers an excellent view of the hills of Gers. Gers is a region in the southwest of France which has not yet been discovered by tourists and is also known as Gascogne or French Tuscany. It is a place to redefine the meaning of silence. In clear weather the Pyrenees are visible and the stars are a sight at night rarely to be seen elsewhere.

The residence

Is composed of a design kitchen, a drawing-room ( 10 metres by 10) characterized by its robust oak rafters, spacious open fireplace and a mezzanine ( 10 metres by 3) containing a nice big library. It would be an excellent place for studygroups or those interested in painting, music, singing or dancing. Upstairs contains five bedrooms and two bathrooms, downstairs has a tv-livingroom or bedroom, an extra bathroom, storage accomodation and a terrace which is roofed in. A 80 square-metre terrace with a delightful view can be found in front of the house. At the side of the house another partially covered terrace can be found, surrounded by a herbal garden and equipped with a well as well as an old brick cottage with a barbecue and an oven for baking either bread or pizza.

The former stables

Have been rebuilt into three comfortable, well-decorated and completely independent dwellings, each with two terraces, a living with a kitchen ( 8 metres by 4,50), two bedrooms and a bathroom and if required: dishwasher, tv with decoder, video and DVDplayer. Very well suited for groups of relatives or friends: both sufficiently private and a sense of being together at the same time. In the shade of the plane-trees some tents or a caravan can be placed (water and electricity available).

The swimming-pool

( 7 metres by 14, soft water, no chloride but salty) is surrounded by large terraces with a splendid view, vine-tendrils, shady spots and lots of green lawn. Behind the old stone wall that partially surrounds the swimming-pool are a toilet, shower, washing-stand, dressing-room, big refridgerator and an engineroom.

Sports and Games

Cante Perdric has 2,50 hectare land of its own which provides a spot to play tabletennis, petanque and volleyball, to relax in a hammock and to let children play in the playground. In the village of Lauraët ( 500 metres from Cante Perdric) our guests have free use of a tenniscourt and a footballfield. The surroundings also provide the opportunity for walking-tours, horseriding, golfing, swimming in natural water, traveling the river Baïse, angling and in the winter to have a daytrip of skiing in the Pyrenees.

Culture

The neighbourhood knows many castles, a nice Romanesque abbey, pittoresque old churches, colourful markets and excellent restaurants. In summer the nearby villages try to outdo each other with exhibitions, concerts and other local festivities in an even international manner: the Marciac jazz-festival.
