Description of Chateau de Blomac Bed & Breakfast:We love to welcome you as guest at Chateau de Blomac.
In the south of France, between Carcassonne and Narbonne in, you will find our castle where you can stay in luxury (family) suites with private bathroom. As night on your way to Spain, for a holiday or just a few days to relax to. Free acces to wireless internet.
The construction of the present Chateau de Blomac started in 1789 and has been lived in and renovated by various families. Wine is still being made. In the castle there are now very spacious and comfortable(family) suites, where our guests will stay regally (chambres d'hotes) . We do have a large (7x13 and heated) swimming pool for all our guests. The estate is ideal for fairylike wedding or anniversary parties. Larger parties could be received for art- and antique arrangements, cooking courses and pastry-workshops. Imagine your own family or theme gatherings and we will make it true in this inspiring setting. And of course we can't ignore it: exciting your taste buds with exquisite wines.
5 days a week we offer the possibility to dine in a unique atmosphere (table d'hotes) A French saying goes: Do you live to eat or do you eat to live? Indeed a Frenchman's life is all about dining. It is our principle to arrange an unforgettable stay for you. Would you like to have an evening meal (4 courses and drinks)please indicate so when you book or during your stay (at least one day beforehand).
You can relax actively. Walking, cycling and canoeing on every level. Riding your bike easily down the flat valley of the river Aude (a few hundred yards from the chateau). Challenging cycling- and hiking tours in the surrounding mountains of the Montagne Noir of the Corbieres. The many quiet golf courses in the surroundings will astound you.
Would you like to see the sun rise from the sea. This area (Languedoc Rousillon) is the only place in France where you can do so! Nicely reposing or sunbathing on the beach? Sauntering along the boulevard and enjoy the many fish restaurants? All that is possible at some dozens of miles from Blomac. There is also a lot of history and culture in its surroundings. There are at least two world heritages nearby. The "Canal du Midi" is at a stone's throw from the castle's backyard. The digging of the canal started in 1662 by order of Louis XIV and links the Mediterranean and the Atlantic. The "canal" with its many quaint locks, bridges and ports can easily be sailed on by pleasure boats for rent at many places. Cycling and walking along the shady canal (huge plane trees along the entire canal) is very popular as well. The other spectacular heritage is the "Cite de Carcasson" at only 12 miles from Chateau de Blomac. The only remaining walled in, medieval town in Europe. Everybody that travelled down the motorway between Bordeaux and Narbonne has seen this monumental construction, stuck on the hilly vineyards.
Attractions:Near by to Carcassonne, Trèbes, Narbonne, the Canal du Midi. The ideal starting point to visit the Cité de Carcassonne and golf (18 holes), the abbeys of Fontfroide, Lagrasse, beach in Narbonne, regional markets, walking on foot or by mountain bike, canoe and kayak, or just visit the winemakers for a wine tasting.
