From Calais, Le Havre or Caen the easiest way is to head for Saumur by any preferred routing. From Saumur use N147 to the island with directions for Cholet D960. Continue along D 960 and on approaching Doue la Fontaine take the 'Toutes Directions' route which by passes the main town. Follow directions to Vihiers and Cholet passing through Concourson sur Layon and after approximately 4 km follow the signs turning left to Clere sur Layon on D 159.
From Cherbourg or St. Malo the easiest way is to approach the area via Rennes, Nantes and Angers. At Nantes follow signs for Niort/Poitiers which leads to the Cholet road N249. Follow the rocade (ring road) towards Saumur D960. Take the second exit for Vihiers D748 and turn right towards Argenton Chateau at the top of the sliproad and at the first junction about 1 km turn left onto D54. Follow the road straight through Les Cerqueux and Clere
