Description for B&B:
Welcome to Rochefort en Terre, a village that seems to exist outside of time, preserving its medieval charm for over six centuries. Founded in 1498 by Jean Rochefort sire Rieux, this village is characterized by its quaint cobbled streets, timbered houses, houses made of granite, and the iconic La Tour du Lion.Step into our house, built in the mid-16th century, and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of 500 years ago. Its first owner was likely a steward, administrator, or a member of the noble class such as a lawyer, clerk, or seneschal.
In 2009, experience the ambiance of the past with five uniquely designed bedrooms, each offering a glimpse into history. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the sandstone and slate in the surrounding hamlet from the patio and garden.
If you are a lover of the Old Guard and the eagles of the Emperor, the Napoleon House is perfect for you. Decorated in an "Empire" style with exquisite woodwork, gilding, and curtains, this room will transport you to the time of Napoleon. The price for this room is 130 EURO.
For those who appreciate a romantic ambiance, the Marie Antoinette room features a queen bed and a beautiful bathroom. With stone walls, ceiling beams, and charming "toiles de Jouy" patterns, this room is fit for a queen.
The Francois First room, with its double bed, showcases a scalloped headboard and a yellow parchment signed by the King. The toilet in the tower and the famous bathroom doors add to the historical charm. It is believed that King François 1st, who passed away in 1547, stayed in Rochefort and may have even walked by the windows of this room.
In the Moulin Rouge room, you will find the magic of Paris captured in drawings, tables, and vibrant colors. Enjoy a large bathroom with views of the terrace and garden, where you can relax and watch the flowers bloom.
Lastly, the Anne of Brittany room, with its double bed, provides a glimpse into the life of the Duchess of Brittany, who became queen of France twice. Featuring a four-poster bed, fireplace, Aubusson tapestry, and ermine details, this room will transport you back in time.
We invite you to share a timeless experience with us at our historic house in Rochefort en Terre.
