Description for Gite

Located in the serene countryside of the Perigord Noir, Le Petit Chambon is an idyllic retreat nestled between the peaceful village of Gabillou and the charming hamlet of Pauliac. This delightful gite offers the perfect base for exploring the abundant attractions of the Dordogne region, such as Hautefort, Sarlat, the renowned Lascaux caves, and much more.

Recently renovated just two years ago, Le Petit Chambon exudes a cozy ambiance. The inviting lounge features a wood burner, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The fully equipped "cuisine americane" boasts a large electric oven, gas hob, coffee maker, kettle, and toaster. If you have a passion for cooking, we are delighted to provide additional equipment, herbs, and spices to enhance your culinary experience. Alternatively, you can unwind and indulge in the local cuisine by visiting one of the nearby restaurants, just a short drive away.

The spacious bedroom offers a picturesque view of the courtyard and can be arranged with either a double bed and an additional single bed or three single beds to accommodate you and your travel companions comfortably. The gite also features a modern "wet room" style shower and toilet, as well as a separate toilet and basin. For your convenience, a laundry room with a washing machine is available.

Bedlinen and towels are provided and changed on a weekly basis, ensuring a fresh and comfortable stay. Spend your leisure time lounging by the pool or immersing yourself in a captivating book while sitting at the charming blue table and chairs in the courtyard. Off-road parking is available for your convenience.

Le Petit Chambon was thoughtfully designed to accommodate disabled guests, and we would be more than happy to provide further details on the facilities upon booking.

Directions

To reach Les Chambons easily by car, you have two options. If you are coming from the N89 at Thenon, or from the D704 from Limoges, follow these directions:

1. If you are coming from the D704:
- About 10 minutes past Saint Agnan (by Hautefort), look for the signpost for Sainte-Orse.
- Follow the signs for Sainte-Orse for approximately 10 minutes until you reach the center of Sainte-Orse (which is quite small).
- At the small crossroads in the center, you will see Hotel de France on the left and the Marie on the right.
- Turn right at this crossroads, go down the hill, and take the left-hand turn at the bottom, signposted Gabillou.
- Continue on this road for 4Km, ignoring the left turn to Gabillou.
- Just past the Gabillou turning, you will see a pretty stone cottage called Le Chambon, our neighbor. Les Chambons is the big house on the left, right after the stone cottage.
- Pass the side of the house and make a sharp right (slowly!) through the large iron gates into the courtyard. You may need to perform a two-point turn.

2. If you are coming from the N89:
- When driving from Perigeux to Thenon, reach the main crossroads in Thenon and turn left towards Sainte-Orse.
- Drive for about 7km, passing under the railway and motorway bridges, until you see another sign to Sainte-Orse (6km).
- Follow this sign to Sainte-Orse, which is a small village. Along the route, you will also notice signs to Gabillou. This route is more complicated, and we can provide further guidance once you have found us for the first time.
- Once in Sainte-Orse, follow the signs for Gabillou. Drive through the village, down a hill, and turn left towards Gabillou.
- Continue on road D70 for approximately 4Km, avoiding the left turn up the hill to Gabillou.
- Our location is just past the tiny locality of Vaudres and below the actual village of Gabillou.
- Follow the directions as mentioned above.
