Description for B&B:

Welcome to the Cotentin! We extend a warm welcome to you in our charming old farmhouse, which was once home to agricultural activities until the 1980s. Despite providing modern comforts, we have carefully preserved the authenticity of the property during its restoration.

We are passionate about the region and would love to share with you the remarkable sites to explore. Whether it's the beautiful coastline, the marshes, or the groves, we can provide recommendations. Additionally, we are knowledgeable about the local history, particularly events related to World War II and some historical sites.

Martine is fluent in English and German, ensuring effective communication during your stay.

We have two rooms available for you to choose from. The first room offers a garden view and can accommodate two or three people. It features a 160 cm bed and a 90 cm bed, with the possibility of an additional bed. Just two meters away on the landing, there is a private bathroom with a toilet.

The second option is a family suite that can accommodate four people (can also be booked for two). It consists of a double room with a 160 cm bed and an ensuite bathroom with a toilet. Additionally, there is a small children's room with two 90 cm beds.

Start your day with a delicious breakfast served on the ground floor in our dining room, complete with an old fireplace. We offer a selection of fruit juices, coffee, tea, or hot chocolate, along with bread and pastries accompanied by homemade jams. Dairy products, fruits, cereals, and other options are also available.

Feel free to make use of the mezzanine on the first floor, which serves as a cozy lounge area. Coffee, tea, and herbal teas are provided for your enjoyment.

In the front and back of the house, you will find garden furniture where you can relax and soak up the outdoors. The garden is a perfect spot to bask in the sun from mid-morning until evening, creating wonderful memories. Children are welcome to use the playset under the supervision of their parents.

If you require baby equipment such as a cot, baby bath, or high chair, or if you need ironing facilities, please let us know in advance, and we will be happy to accommodate your needs.

Appréciations pour Les Grandes Portes, Flottemanville:

A delightful stay
Review by: Scott LeCraw, Juin 19 2019 3:10PM
Our party of five had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at Les Grandes Portes, a B&B owned and operated by Martine and Serge. The house is very nicely located for a visit to the beaches of D-Day, being 15 minutes from Sainte-Mère Église and 20 minutes from the landing beaches.

They have two rooms, one of which is actually a suite with a small bed room attached. That worked very well for us as our group of five was actually two families. My wife and I took the Azurine room, which has a queen bed and a single. Her sister took the Viaelis room, which has a double bed and then two singles in the attached room, all of which worked very well for her and her two older children.

Martine is fluent in English, which was good since only two of our party had any French at all. We found her and Serge to be a lot of fun to be with and to be very attentive to our needs. They had a very nice continental breakfast laid out for us every morning, including one morning when we were headed to a special event and asked for breakfast at 4:30 AM!

While I don't know if another trip to Normandy is in my future, if it is, I will be staying at Les Grandes Portes!
