Description:

Description for B&B:

Welcome to our breathtaking 17th-century farm-house nestled in the untouched and wild region of the Girona Pyrenees. This hidden gem is a paradise for hiking and mountain-biking enthusiasts. Surrounded by miles of pristine woods and blissful silence, the only lights that grace our night sky are the moon and the stars. Perched on a mountain pass, our house offers unparalleled views of two stunning valleys. With over 300 sunny days a year, you are guaranteed to bask in the beauty of nature.

We have two guest-rooms available on the first floor of our beautifully restored house, where we reside, as well as an independent apartment on the ground floor. The larger room boasts a private bathroom and is furnished with a double bed and a double futon sofa-bed. The second room features two single beds. Our guests also have access to a dining room with a cozy wood-stove. The apartment offers a spacious and luminous hall with high vaulted ceilings, an inviting American kitchen, a fireplace, a large dining table, and a comfortable living area with a sofa-bed. It also includes a sleeping room with a double bed and a set of bunk beds, a generous bathroom, and a charming garden terrace with a barbecue.

Our house is practically self-sufficient, with heating provided by the central fireplace and electricity generated by solar panels. We take pride in producing our own bread, pasta, game sausages, marmalades, and jams made from our fruit trees, wild berries, and nuts. Additionally, we cultivate our own organic vegetables and raise chickens and ducks. For those seeking a truly immersive experience, we offer half-board and full-board services, using our organic products along with those sourced from local farmers, to create delicious specialties.

Situated between 600 and 1,500 meters above sea level, our location is a privileged middle-mountain area that offers a breathtaking vantage point overlooking the radiant plains of Empordà, stretching towards the sea. Welcome to Alta Garrotxa, a rugged and solitary region with a diverse and contrasting landscape. On the sun-drenched slopes, you'll find Mediterranean dry forests of holly oaks, oaks, and pine trees, while the shady areas are adorned with lush and humid vegetation, including chestnut trees, beeches, and black poplars. Deep ravines, gurgling mountain streams, cascades, alpine meadows, sheer rock walls, and karstic formations add to the region's enchanting allure. Despite its historical sparse population, the area is scattered with farm-houses and Romanesque chapels nestled in seemingly impossible locations. Here, encounters with deer, wild pigs, hares, and foxes are more likely than human encounters. The air is filled with the melodious songs of numerous bird species. The absence of electricity, telephone cables, and asphalt throughout the vast 32,865-hectare region further enhances the sense of tranquility. It's a place where you can forget about the stresses of daily life and immerse yourself in the wonders of nature, wandering beneath the enchanting shade of chestnut forests or dozing in a hammock under the embrace of an oak tree.

Our house is conveniently located just 15 minutes away from the river Muga, which runs along the French-Catalan border. In the summer, you can indulge in a heavenly experience by diving into the crystal-clear natural pools of icy water. Autumn is the perfect time to forage for mushrooms, chestnuts, figs, and blackberries, while spring blesses us with wild strawberries, cherries, asparagus, and more mushrooms. Even in winter, you can appreciate the slightly snow-dusted landscape under a brilliant blue sky, without the biting cold of higher mountain regions.

To enhance your stay, we offer guided hiking and horse-back tours that will allow you to discover some of the most breathtaking views in this region, known for its rugged terrain and historical significance as a crossing point for those journeying across the Pyrenees. With over 40 Romanesque chapels dating back to the 10th to 12th centuries, this region was once the southernmost Christian territory. There are also marked mountain-bike routes for those seeking an exhilarating adventure through this remarkable landscape.

Appréciations pour ClardeBosc, Albanyà:

Can coll
Review by: Claire, Nov 6 2012 3:52PM
