Description for B&B:
The De Battisti family constructed this house at the close of the 17th century, making it the sole residence in the district that resembled a Patrician dwelling. Throughout the centuries, it became a popular destination for esteemed individuals, including Count De Boissieux, Count de Marbeuf, Viscount de Barin, and notably, Sir Gilbert Elliot, the viceroy of Corsica. In the 19th century, the house underwent a transformation into a lavish hotel, accommodating esteemed guests such as Gustave de Flaubert, Joseph Multedo, the Duc of Orleans, and Prosper Mérimée. When the hotel ceased operation, this magnificent establishment fell into disrepair and remained neglected for years.
Today, our family has meticulously restored and converted A Casa Reale into a guest house, offering a tranquil sanctuary in the heart of the city. You will have access to a spacious terrace with breathtaking views of the sea and nearby dock, a 70-square-meter living room adorned with an exquisite bookshelf, a cozy relaxation area for television viewing or games, and a Prussian grand piano dating back to 1904, originally gifted to Belgian King Leopold.
The house has been meticulously rehabilitated with utmost attention to authenticity, aiming to capture the essence and style of the original patrician residence. Every detail, from the selection of craftsmen to the choice of materials, such as handcrafted terracotta tiles and meticulously restored moldings by a master plasterer, as well as century-old cement tiles, contributes to restoring a charming and distinctive ambiance. The fusion of modern and antique furnishings achieves a perfect harmony within the space.
