Description for B&B:

What is a "mas"?

In the region of Provence, a "mas" refers to a type of farmhouse. These traditional structures are strategically positioned facing south to shield them from the powerful Mistral winds that blow along the Rhône river valley. Their design includes no openings on the northern side, while the doors and windows are intentionally narrow, providing protection from both the scorching summer heat and the biting winter cold. It is important to note that not all "mas" are used as farmhouses; the larger ones, often constructed by the affluent bourgeoisie, are referred to as Bastides.

A "mas de ville" aims to recreate the rustic atmosphere of a farmhouse, offering its guests a glimpse into the idyllic rural life of Provence.
