Description for B&B:

The Castle of Ferns, originally built in 1860 by a Parisian industrialist in Trouville, offers a breathtaking view of the entire Côte Fleurie, overlooking Deauville. Originally a charming seaside villa adorned with an exotic winter garden, the castle underwent significant expansions and renovations in the 1920s, transforming it into the grand estate it is today.

Over the years, the estate saw changes, with its farmland and farm being divided and reduced. However, it now stands as a magnificent ensemble, consisting of the castle building and numerous adjoining structures, all situated on a romantic 5-hectare park.

During World War II, the Castle was occupied by the German army and served various purposes, including being used as a religious annex to assist the heavily damaged city of Caen, a summer camp, and eventually a convalescent home.

Unfortunately, the Castle fell into disrepair in the 1990s due to unforeseen circumstances. It remained abandoned and sealed until it was purchased by an individual in 1997. Subsequently, an extensive restoration campaign was initiated to eliminate the remnants of its troubled past and revive its former glory.

Now lovingly restored, the Castle of Ferns is open to guests and friends, who can indulge in the charms of this dormant beauty. Its passionate owners take great joy in sharing the rich history and soul of this remarkable estate.
